are recyclable and accepted at the center include:
Newsprint
– place in boxes or paper bags or tie in bundles with twine or
string
Also accepted: glossy flyers
in papers, telephone books
Magazines
& Catalogs – Keep separate from junk mail and
newspapers

– Keep separate from junk mail and newspapers
Boxboard
& Corrugated Cardboard – Remove & discard liners, cellophane or metal
strips,
Flatten boxes: Note: NO pizza boxes or boxes that had food
directly on them; no
Boxes that have wax-coating
Glass jars
& bottles – rinse clean; remove labels, caps & rings. NO window or plate
glass,
Light bulbs, cookware, drinking glasses, dishes

Plastic – rinse clean. NO clear

Aluminum –

Tin/Steel Rinse

Metal – Large appliances, washers, dryers, refrigerators, metal lawn

Refrigerators MUST have freon removed.
Scrap metal is recycled locally.
All
collected items are transported to the Wexford County Recycling Center for
recycling. Materials that cannot be
recycled at the Missaukee Recycling Center must be removed from the site and
disposed of in a proper manner.
Residents
of
The
Kiwanis Club of Missaukee County is in charge of collecting and recycling
newspapers, junk mail, and office paper.
Materials collected at the Missaukee Recycling Center are sold to
distributors, and the collected fees are used to fund local Kiwanis Youth
Programs.
