Who We Are
"CARING HEARTS, GIVING SPIRITS, GENTLE HANDS"
Missaukee EMS
Mission Statement
"It is the mission of Missaukee County Emergency Medical Services to provide quality pre-hospital care to those we serve. Our goals are to preserve life, alleviate suffering, and promote health and safety. We will provide services on the basis of human need with respect for dignity unrestricted by race, sex, religion, or status. Through training, education and procedural review we will pursue excellence in our standards of care and ethics thus ensuring we remain a credit to the citizens we serve. Finally, as a publicly-held E.M.S. provider, we will strive to ensure those persons living in and traveling through our area the highest quality emergency care possible."
Missaukee County E.M.S. is a division of the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office. We
are solely responsible for providing emergency care to the entire county and cover 576
square miles. E.M.S. is also responsible for all extrication and rescue within our area.
We have 4 ambulances; 3 housed in Lake City, 1 in McBain, all equipped at the Advanced Life Support Level. Our rescue truck is also located in Lake City and carries all vehicular extrication equipment in addition to other necessary rescue equipment.
We currently have 30 state licensed providers (minimum EMT-B) on our staff, most
are volunteers. We have 3 full-time employees, an E.M.S. Coordinator, and a part-time
billing person. Our providers have an average of 18.6 years field experience and are the heart of our organization.
In conjunction with the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office, we also maintain a rescue
boat, an emergency command and communications vehicle and conduct ice and water rescue operations.
